Cookie Policy · The Fuglys

This Cookie Policy explains how The Metavision Multimedia Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (trading as The Fuglys) uses cookies and similar technologies on thefuglys.com. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

1. The short version

We use Google Analytics cookies only if you accept them in our cookie banner; if you reject them, none are set. We use no advertising cookies and there are no tracking pixels on thefuglys.com. Videos load only when you press play.

2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files a website places on your device. Similar technologies include local storage and session storage in your browser; references to "cookies" in this policy cover all of them.

3. What we store on your device

Everything below is either strictly necessary or something you have asked for, so under UK law (PECR) it does not need consent. It stays in your browser and is not sent to us or anyone else.

fuglys-cart-v1 (local storage) — the contents of your basket, so it survives page loads. Cleared when your order completes, or when you clear your browser data.
fuglys_theme_… (local storage) — the theme-tune player’s position, play state and volume, so the music carries on as you move between pages. Expires after 24 hours.
Theme player closed (session storage) — remembers that you closed the player. Cleared when you close the tab.
fuglys-consent (local storage) — whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies ("granted" or "denied"), so the banner doesn't ask on every page. Stays until you change your choice or clear your browser data.

4. Analytics Cookies

We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to understand how people use thefuglys.com — which pages are visited, which products are viewed or added to the basket, and when an order is placed. It runs only if you click Accept in our cookie banner. Until you do, and if you click Reject, nothing is loaded from Google and no analytics cookies are set.

_ga (cookie, Google Analytics) — a random identifier that tells one visitor's browser from another. Expires after 2 years.
_ga_DHY9KR4CZK (cookie, Google Analytics) — keeps track of your current visit. Expires after 2 years.

Changing your mind. Use the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of any page to reopen the banner and accept or reject at any time. Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage under the key fuglys-consent. If you reject after accepting, analytics stops straight away and we delete the Google Analytics cookies.

No advertising. Google's advertising features stay switched off: Google Analytics data is not used for advertising, remarketing or ad personalisation.

How long it is kept. Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months, then deleted.

When you place an order. If you accepted analytics cookies, when you pay our server sends Google your anonymous analytics identifiers (the random visitor and visit IDs from the cookies above) with the order reference, the order value and the items bought, so the sale is counted correctly. We never send your name, email address, postal address or payment details to Google. If you rejected analytics cookies, nothing about your order is sent to Google.

5. Third-party services

YouTube (Google) — our trailers show a picture hosted on our own site, and nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play. The video then plays from youtube-nocookie.com, and YouTube may set cookies or similar technologies under Google’s own privacy and cookie policies.
Stripe — when you check out you are taken to Stripe’s secure checkout page (checkout.stripe.com). Stripe sets cookies there for payment processing and fraud prevention, under Stripe’s cookie policy. Stripe does not set cookies on thefuglys.com.
Social links — the YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, X and Facebook icons are ordinary links. Nothing is loaded from those sites unless you click one.

Our fonts are served from our own site, and most images come from Sanity’s image CDN, which does not set cookies.

6. Managing what is stored

You can accept or reject analytics cookies at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. You can also view and delete site data in your browser settings — for example:

Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies / Site data
Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data

Clearing site data empties your basket, resets the theme-tune player and forgets your cookie choice, so the banner will ask again.

7. Changes to this policy

If we add any other analytics or advertising cookies, we will ask for your consent before setting them — with Accept and Reject options that are equally easy to use — and update this page first.
